National Softball Academy (NSA) Chairperson Tehmina Asif said that NSA has now expanded its network to interior Sindh as well with its activities starting in Sukkur and Khairpur with an aim to attract and hunt talent by offering more opportunities to play to interested players.
“After getting foothold in Sukkur and Khairpur with an aim to spot talented players, NSA is also visioning to establish academies in Quetta and Lahore. The aim is to increase pool of talented players with our activities in order to establish a strong national team in future,” Tehmina said.
Meanwhile, she said that training and coaching courses have also been organized for players in Khairpur and Sukkur at the sidelines of the ongoing NSA Defense Day Women Softball Championship underway in Khairpur, which is a district of division Sukkur.
She added that NSA officials in Khairpur and Sukkur have also been provided with equipment, used in the sport.
Meanwhile, Karachi women team, led by Zarlash Shakeel has reached Khairpur for the tournament. Other players in the team are Bushra Javed, Mursileen, Ayesha Ishtiaq, Aliza Khan, Muskan Shoukat, Reema Ashraf, Manahil Afzal, Muskan Hashmi, Doha Komal, Mehreen, Rachale and Suzaine.
Naheed Liaquat is team manager while Faraz Ijaz and Zulfiqar Ahmed are head coach and assistant coach of the team respectively. Shahid Aftab, Rao Jameel, Mohammad Musa, Kamran Munir and Mohammad Akbar will be umpires during the tournament.
