Karachi, 10 Aug 2018: Principal Trinity Girls and Degree College Irene Pearl has praised National Softball Academy for holding Green Pakistan Softball Festival and said that sports activity are healthy amid healthy environment here at Karachi Parsi Institute Ground
“I am hopeful that these girls playing at the academy will prove to be talented players and would win laurels for the country in future,” Pearl said during the closing ceremony of the event. She also distributed prizes among participants.
She said that women were now performing well at every front at par with men and sports has not been different either and therefore women should also be given equal opportunity as well.
She lauded NSA for regularly holding events and added that it would help in developing talent in the country.
NSA Chairperson Tehmina Asif, UAE Academy Coordinator Maqsood Ahmed, Director Academy Mohammad Nasir, Sindh Softball Association (SSA) Secretary Mohammad Zeeshan Merchant, Murad Hussain, Faraz Ijaz and Naheed Liaquat were also present on the occasion.
Pearl congratulated Tehmina Asif and her team for leading the academy in the right direction while also promoting the message of healthy environment.
Meanwhile, Tehmina Asif said that Green Environment is a part of Olympic Agenda and also of UNO Agenda 2030.
“We are collaborating with Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) and Softball Federation of Pakistan (SFP) in the movement to plant trees throughout the country. Greenery and sports both are very important for a healthy nation,” she said.
“It is our responsibility to keep sports venues and grounds as greener as we can,” Tehmina Asif added.
Meanwhile, Karachi Greens defeated Karachi Blues by 12-10 score to win the festival match. Bushra Javed, Manahil, Muskan Shoukat and Mehreen scored two runs each for Karachi Greens. Zarlash, Alizey and Laraib scored two runs each for the losing side.
