All About Softball

History

Softball is a variant of baseball played with a larger ball on a smaller field. It was invented by George Hancock in 1887 in United States as an indoor game. The name softball was given to the game in 1926, because the ball used to be soft. The popularity of softball has grown considerably, both at the recreational and competitive levels. In fact, not only is women’s fast pitch softball a popular high school and college sport, it was recognized as an Olympic sport in 1996.
